Abstract

In a five-year study, the impact of visitor use tended to level off after the first two years. Visitor registration provided nearly complete use data, and the effects on soil, water quality, vegetation, and site size were measured and mapped. Physical measurements were combined into an impact-stage rating system by cover types. Management implications of the results are discussed.
