Abstract

During the past few years, state, federal and private foresters have become perturbed at the amount of swamp-type timber which has been killed or damaged by beaver flooding in the extensive bog country of Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, and Beltrami counties. To ascertain the extent and seriousness of this problem, a preliminary investigation was made by the Pittman-Robertson Research Unit of the Minnesota Division of Game and Fish, Minnesota Division of Forestry, and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
