These copies of photographs were taken in 1968 when the participant was serving in the 101st Airborne Division, B company. The participant had mixed emotions about his experiences in Vietnam and he never felt much "unit" pride. There was an incident where a friendly fire killed 11 soldiers and wounded 19 more. He has a unique experience of starting as a clerk in the army and then becoming an infantryman and befriending a Buddhist monk. The photos stand as a symbol of veteran ambivalence.
