At the Magnetospheric-Ionospheric Coupling Conference, scientists explore the connection between the ionosphere (the ionized section of Earth’s upper atmosphere) and the magnetosphere (the area of space surrounding Earth that is effected by its magnetic field). Some of the topics examined that relate to these spheres’ interaction include low energy plasma, electric/magnetic fields, the magnetospheric-ionospheric coupling of other planets and moons, etc. Through the information presented at this conference, scientists hope to gain a greater understanding of our solar system’s space environment.
