Latest revision: 24 July 2019 by Seth Lyman This is a dataset of oil and gas well pads which were surveyed for hydrocarbon emissions with an optical gas imaging camera deployed from a helicopter. The data are described thoroughly in a peer-reviewed paper: Lyman S., Tran, T., Mansfield, M. Ravikumar, A., 2019. Aerial and Ground-Based Optical Gas Imaging Survey of Uinta Basin Oil and Gas Wells. Under review for publication in Elementa. The following is a description of the variables in the dataset: pad_type: Type of pad. OW signifies oil well and GW signifies gas well. Taken from Utah DOGM database (https://oilgas.ogm.utah.gov/oilgasweb/data-center/dc-main.xhtml) well_count: Number of wells per pad. pad_age: Age of pad to the nearest year (relative to March 2018). Derived from data available in the Utah DOGM database (https://oilgas.ogm.utah.gov/oilgasweb/data-center/dc-main.xhtml) Indian_Country: "YES" signifies the pad is in Indian country. Daily_oil_prod: Daily production of oil from the pad, in barrels, rounded to the nearest 50, in February 2018. Taken from Utah DOGM database (https://oilgas.ogm.utah.gov/oilgasweb/data-center/dc-main.xhtml) Daily_gas_prod: Daily production of gas from the pad, in MCF, rounded to the nearest 100, in February 2018. Taken from Utah DOGM database (https://oilgas.ogm.utah.gov/oilgasweb/data-center/dc-main.xhtml) 2014_inventory: "YES" signifies the pad was included in the 2014 Utah air agencies oil and gas emissions inventory. (https://deq.utah.gov/legacy/destinations/u/uintah-basin/air-agencies-emissions-inventory/index.htm) tank_controls: "YES" signifies the pad has emission controls installed on liquid storate tanks, if the pad is included in the 2014 inventory. survey_date: Date the aerial survey crew surveyed the pad. num_plumes: Number of emission plumes detected on the pad by the aerial survey crew. plume_size: Qualitative size of observed emission plumes, if available. plume_source: source of the detected emission plume.
