Abstract

The trichomonads of the bovine digestive tract are incompletely known and the taxonomy of the described species is not clear. Two species, Trichomonas enteris (Christl) and T. bovis (Pavlov and Dimitrov) from the lower digestive tract of cattle have been described, although the descriptions in both cases were not complete. A species of flagellates of the rumen has been known since 1913; it has been called a trichomonad by some authors and a monocercomonad by others.
