Abstract
Cattle are rarely free of coccidia (Marsh, 1938). It is estimated that this disease is responsible for an annual loss of 10 million dollars in the cattle industry; which is second only to the loss caused by liver flukes among internal parasites. The mortality was conservatively estimated to be as high as 29.1 percent in several outbreaks of bovine coccidiosis (Agriculture Research Service, 1954).
