Abstract
The turkey industry is one of the largest agricultural pursuits of the state of Utah. Synovitis is one of the most costly diseases in this industry. Surveys in limited areas in 1944 showed 39% of the flocks were afflicted, with mortality varying from 5% to 20%. In 1947 and 1948 there was widespread occurence of the disease throughout the state; the disease usually occurred between the 9th to the 12th week of age and persisted until marketing. Synovitis has caused considerable economic loss to the grower.
