Abstract

Numerous studies have been made regarding the amount of distribution of chlorinated insecticides in the tissues and organs of the animal body in an attempt to determine their harmful effects. The majority of these studies have been concerned with histological observations and accumulation rates. This has suggested that other ways could be used to study the effects of the insecticides on animal tissues which might supplement histological and accumulative studies. The use of liver function tests might yield additional information in regard to the possible toxicity of the insecticide endrin. The test which was selected for this study was the alkaline phosphatase test which measures the alkaline phosphatase levels in the serum.
