Abstract

This study is concerned with the meiotic chromosome behavior of Agropyron dasystachyum (Hook.) Scribn., commonly known as thickspike wheatgrass. Detailed analyses of the pollen mother cells have been made in an attempt to establish the degree of chromosome pairing, occurence of univalents and multivalents, chromosome laggards, micronuclei, and other chromosomal irregularities. These data should provide evidence regarding the type of polyploidy present in this species and indirectly in Agropyron albicans.
