Abstract
The complex endocrine involvement with the reproductive process was all but unknown until the second decade of the present century. The first biologically active steroid was isolated in 1929. This accomplishment encouraged many investigators in the field of reproductive physiology. The untiring efforts of these scientists provided the foundation upon which current investigators continue to develop our understanding of the reproductive process.
