Abstract
Euphytomima nomiivora James is a sarcophagid fly belonging to the sub-family Miltogramminae . It was first found as a parasite of the alkali bee in Logan, Utah in 1947 by Dr. George E. Bohart who sent several specimens to Dr. Maurice James of Washington State University for determination. Dr. James (1955) described it as a new genus and species but noted that it had previously been collected from other localities such as Imperial County, California and Globe, Arizona. In Logan it was found at an alkali bee nesting site near the Cache-Logan Airport. Later it was introduced to an artificial nesting site of alkali bees in North Logan where it became well established. The species has also been found as a parasite of the alkali bee in a small nesting site near North Ogden, Utah and in a somewhat larger site near Preston, Idaho. However, it has not been taken at nesting sites in central and eastern Utah or the important ones in the Snake River and Columbia River drainage s of Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
