Expanding Opportunities and National Recognition: The 2010s and Beyond

In 2019, longtime undergraduate research advocates David and Terry Peak expanded their commitment to student research by establishing the Peak Summer Research Fellowship. Designed for highly engaged and motivated undergraduate researchers in the College of Science and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, this fellowship provides students with the opportunity to pursue in-depth, faculty-mentored research over the summer months. This initiative builds on USU's legacy of fostering undergraduate research and ensures that students continue to receive the support and recognition needed to advance their academic and professional careers.

The following year, in 2020, Utah State University was honored with the Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR) Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishments (AURA). This prestigious award recognizes institutions with campus-wide commitment to undergraduate research, highlighting USU's long-standing dedication to integrating research into the undergraduate experience. Receiving this national recognition solidified USU's role as a leader in undergraduate research and reinforced its mission to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities that shape their futures.
