Abstract
Young lambs are subject to severe infections with coccidiosis, which cause weight loss, morbidity, woolbreaking, and death (Christensen, 1940b; Shumard, 1957; Lotze, 1959; Smith et al., 1960). Dunlap et al. (1949) have shown that the adult sheep are reservoir hosts and are a constant source of infection to lambs. Outbreaks of coccidial infections, especially under feedlot conditions, are frequent (Newsom and Cross, 1931; Piras, 1934; Deem and Thorp, 1940; Mahrt and Sherrick, 1965).
