Abstract
Subalpine fir, Abies lasiocarpa (Hook.) Nutt., is a common climax dominant of the extensive spruce-fir forests of the subalpine zone of the Rocky Mountains from the southern Yukon Territory to the high mountains of New Mexico and Arizona (Society of American Foresters, 1954).
