Abstract

Erslev (1986) presented a geometric model for faults in the Rocky Mountain foreland province which rests on two assumptions. The first assumption is that the Precambrian rocks responded to Laramide compression by rigid rotations and translations along narrow brittle and ductile shear zones. The second assumption is that all faults are curved. I raise here several points concerning the assumptions and interpretations presented in Erslev's paper.
