Abstract
Field-based experience is an important component of many university teacher-training programs. Unfortunately, this component presents teacher educators with some of the most serious problems in teacher education (5). These problems include too few opportunities for preservice teachers to improve on their teaching skills (7), unclear field experience objectives (9), and little or no collaboration between universities and school districts (2). These problems are compounded by a lack of consistent and effective field-based supervision.
