Abstract
In this video I'll introduce you to the nucleic acids, DNA and RNA. I'll teach you about DNA and RNA structure, as well as the names and structures of the five nucleotide bases. I'll show you what causes nucleotide bases to bind to each other, and I'll explain why DNA lacks a 2-prime hydroxyl group. Then I'll teach you the difference between nucleotides and nucleosides, with their accompanying naming rules. Many thanks to the DNA Learning Center for my use of their highly awesome educational video showing how DNA is packaged into chromosome structure (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbSIBhFwQ4s&feature=relmfu). --Dr. Mike Christiansen from Utah State University.
