Abstract

The one species of Dasypoda occurring in England is that generally known as hirtipes Fabricus, and Harris' description and figure agree well with hirtipes. The name altercator (Harris, 1780) must consequently replace hirtipes (Fabncms, 1793). The date 1780 rests on Lisney (1960: 170). The full synonymy of this species will be given elsewhere.
