Description

This session presents the self-assessment of teaching model as an alternative to peer observations and also as a powerful tool to improve the quality of teaching a common goal for educators and institutions. This model promotes professional growth of teachers through self- observations of teaching, with the aid of video recording. Therefore, data from video recordings, observations, lesson plans, and self-reflection statements will also be discussed. Participants will compare affordances of traditional peer-observation with those of self-assessment teaching. They will learn what the new protocol for self-assessment teaching entails while they expand their understanding of this approach and the implications it may provide to transform their own classroom practices.
