Abstract

During the Civil Rights Movement there were several women activists that have become well known. Some are not noticed and are not recognized for their work. Karen Lynn Parker is one of those women who need to be remembered and recognized just as the well known Frannie Lou Hamer. This presentation will ecompass the life of Frannie Lou Hamer and Karen Lynn Parker and the issues that were important to them. It will cover modern day civil rights and the issues Parker faced at the beginning of her advocacy. Throughout the presentation forgotten women in the Civil Rights Movement will be no longer forgotten and it will be argued that they should be remembered and learned about.
