Abstract

This project is being submitted as part of the requirements for ARTH 3270, Native North American Art. This research paper will examine arrowheads. Arrowheads were used as a weapon and hunting tool. Arrowheads were a profitable object to manufacture. An arrowhead tip was added to an arrow or spear, which became an important device. Native Americans, such as the Utes, used the bow and arrow as well as spears in their everyday life. A closer look at the Utes and their use of arrowheads will allow a further understanding of how this technology was beneficial to them. In addition, this simple object helped increase trade between tribes, and later between Europeans and Native Americans.
