I first met Megan in our 19th century literature class. We sat next to each other the first day and quickly discovered that not only did we have the same first name, but also similar last names. A few weeks later we learned that we have the same middle name as well., Anne.
Megan was part of the Disney College program in Anaheim, California. She was assigned to work at the Star Tours ride, a Star Wars based ride in Disneyland.
A prank we would play at Star Tours was, when a cast member was in the process of launching their flight, someone would tell every one in the cabin that it was their flight agents birthday and lead them all the in the birthday song. The birthday song is awkward enough, but more so when it's not your birthday and 40 people really want it to be so you just have to smile and thank everyone so as to not ruin the magic.
Megan sent me this story as a voice recording a few weeks ago when I reached out to Facebook friends for help with my collection project. She kind of snickered as she told the story, emphasizing the word “magic” as part of her job was to maintain the magical feeling of Disneyland for the guests.
