Abstract
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a brain disorder that destroys memory and thinking skills. The prevalence of AD increases with age and is expected to double by the year 2060.
Carotenoids, pigments in plants that have antioxidant and inflammatory properties when consumed, might slow AD and can be tested for on skin. High-carotenoid eating patterns like the MIND diet may protect against age-related cognitive decline and development of AD.
