Abstract
The conditions for infection of aspen by H. mammatum ascospores have eluded most researchers for more than 50 years, until Belanger et al. (Phytopathology 79:315-317) demonstrated infection and necrosis of unwounded moisture-stressed aspen in tissue culture.
