Abstract
Dendrometer bands are commonly used tools for the measurement of tree diameter increment. An inherent problem of band type dendrometers is the inaccuracy of newly installed bands due to band slack. A study to determine the amount of correction needed to account for first-year slack was conducted for five northern hardwood species. Prediction equations to correct for first year errors are given as well as a discussion of their application. North. J. Appl. For. 5:111-113, June 1988.
