Abstract

Trembling aspen 2- by 4-inch dimension lumber was dried in 4 days with schedules that can be used in commercial direct-fired kilns that have no steam humidification. Constant high dry-bulb temperatures were unsatisfactory, so the recommended schedules made use of gradually increasing dry-bulb temperatures that allow a large proportion of the drying to occur at low or moderate temperatures.
