Abstract
Deciduous forest canopy can be manipulated to alter snow accumulation patterns. In Streeter Experimental Basin in south- western Alberta, four small openings in aspen received one-third more snow than the surrounding closed canopy. throughout the melt season.
These findings are combined with hydrogeological information to suggest a snow management scheme designed to improve on-site retention and use of snowmelt water.
