Abstract
Two radio-equipped female ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) were studied during incubation in northeastern Minnesota. Both fed almost exclusively on aspen (Populus tremuloides) leaves, at least on the occasions when visual observations were made. Seven trees used by one bird during 13 feeding periods were all within 300 ft of her nest. All were staminate aspen with diameters (breast high) of 4.9-8.9 inches.
