Abstract
The radiation treatments utilized did not increase the rooting response of mature cuttings of Populus tremuloides Michx.; in juvenile material the treatment generally resulted in lowered growth rate and rooting ability. A comparison of rooting abilities was made between juvenile shoots that were directly irradiated with shoots obtained from irradiated root pieces. A significant difference in response was obtained between the two groups at intermediate levels of exposure, although the lethal level was similar for both.
