Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe the anatomical changes occurring in the stems, roots, leaves, and twigs of trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) induced by the application of various chemicals in the tree stem. It was hoped that these observations might help explain why some chemicals not only kill trees, but also cause the bark to loosen.
