Abstract

What to do with the 21,000,000 acres of aspen, nearly half of which is of poor quality, constitutes one of the major forest problems in the northern Lake States. This article cites a sale of aspen for wallboard which indicates that the solution lies in clearcutting under short rotations wherever there is a local market for low-grade material.
