Abstract
Morphological traits were measured in castes and sexes of the stingless bee Melipona scutellaris. The data were analyzed by the Generalized Distance of Mahalanobis for obtaining the distances among drones, queens and workers in comparison with other species of bees. The results showed that M. scutellari, workers are closer to drones than to queens. The Mahalanobis method showed that the expression of the maleness genes among M. scutellaris workers was greater than among Melipona quadrifasciata and Apis mellifera workers.
