Abstract
The parasitic honeybee broodmite Varroajacobsoni was first discovered by Oudemans in 1904, infesting the Indian honeybee Apis cerana indica in Java. In 1951 the same mite was found on A. c. indica on Singapore Island, but described as Myrmozercon reidi, and it has subsequently been discovered on the European honeybee A. mellifera.
