Abstract

The first data on bumblebees of the Petrograd Goubernia appeared 120 years ago and are by Cederhjelm. In his "Faunae Ingricae Prodromus" 1) are shown 8 species of bumblebees (2). Subsequently, about 60 years later, appeared further data on the subject. R. Osten-Saken in his "Outline of the Present-day State of the Knowledge of the Entomological fauna of the Surroundings of St. Petersburg" numbers in his collection 10 species of bumblebees, including the doubtful for our locality B. sporadicus.Nyl. Later, in the works of Radoshkowsky (1867, 1877, 1884) are encountered appropriate directions for the finding in the given Goubernia of 10 species among which 3 complete the list of his predecessor. F. Morawitz, who in 1869 published an article entitled "Die Biene des Gouvernements von St. Petersburg", and in 1879 - "Nachtrag", should be considered as the actual successor of the work begun by Cederhelm and Osten-Saken on the subject of Hymenoptera. Thirteen species of bumblebees are cited by this author (F. Moraqitz). If to them are added two species, B. sylvarum and B. consobrinus given by the preceding authors, and adding the occasionally found rare species B. laesus reported by Sagemehl (1882), then it may be said that in the 80's of the past century the number of known species of bumblebees in the Petrograd Goubernia was 15.
