Abstract

This bee was named Makatka by Professor Nowioki because these bees make a nest, like a carpet, of fuzz. This one belongs to the group of solitary bees. They live in a temperate climate. There are about 400 species, about 200 of these live in a palaearctic area. Six species have been collected in Poland to date, they are: A. strigatum Panc., A. oblongatum Latr., A. cingulatumLatr., A. lituratum Panc., A. montanum Mor., and A. manicatum, which is the most common. All of these species were collected in Slaska and Tatr. In Poland these species are of interest to Profs. Nierzejski, Sniezek, Noskiewicz, and others.
