Abstract
ABSTRACT: Biological notes on species in 7 megachilid genera and some inqullines are presented. Included are a description of a single cell potter nest by Anthidiellum notatum notatum (Latreille), data suggesting that Megachile (Litomegachile) mendica Cresson may pass through more than four larval instars, and observations of multiple oviposition by Coehoxys (Boreocoelioxys) octodentata Say and Coelioxys (Borevcoelioxys) Sayi Robertson in megachile host cells. Larval descriptions are given for Osmia (Osmia) lignaria lignaria Say, Hoplitis (Andronicus) cylindrica Cresson, Coelioxys (Cyrtocoelixys) modesta Smith, Megachile (Megachile) montivaga Cresson, M. mendica, Chalicodoma (Chelostomoides) campanulae campanulae (Robertson). Eumegachile (Sayapis) policaris (Say), and of the inquilines Sphaeropthalma (Sphaeropthalma) pensylvanica (Lepeletier) and of Monodontomerus obscurus Westwood. Pupal descriptions are given for Anthidiellum perplexum (Smith), Coelioxys sayi, Megachile mendica. Eumegachile policaris, Mondontomerus obscurus and Leucopis affinis affinis Say. The pupal exuviae of Anthrax irroratus irroratus Say are figured.
