Abstract

The fine structure of each of the blood cell types of adult worker of Melipona quadrifasciata anthidioides has been studied. There are seven cell types: 1 - plasmatocytes, with and without cytoplasmic granules; 2 - granular hemocytes with paracrystaline inclusions; 3 - spherule cells with cytolysosome like inclusions; 4 - adipohemocytes with lipidic droplets; 5 - cistocytes presenting pinocytic vesicles and vacuoles; 6 - oenocytoides appearing without cytoplasmic inclusions and well developed cellular organelles; 7 - vermiform cells showed as small elongated cells without special structures.
