Abstract

This is the beginning of what is hoped will be a complete review of the North American species of bees in the genus Exomalopsis. This study follows the classification of Michener and Moure (1957) who distinguished Exomalopsis from numerous other neotropical and mostly South American genera of the Tribe Exomalopsini. They divide the genus into the subgenera Anthophorula, Anthophorisca, Diomalopsis, Megomalopsis, Phanomalopsis and Exomalopsis.
