The book was gifted to the participant by a befriended military-aged Buddhist monk. The book contains Buddhist literature transcribed into English. Made of paper in good, functional condition. Handmade by a Buddhist monk in the 1960's in Vietnam. Participant ID_00042, Object ID_00091

Object Story
The Vietnamese student workbook from 1968 was gifted to the participant in the same year. It symbolizes veteran companionship. The participant served in the 101st Airborne division, B company. He recalls a story about an enemy mortar attack in the middle of the night and his squad not returning warning shots into the nearby village because they did not want to risk injuring the participant's befriended monk. He wrote to his monk friend years later but received no response.
