Object Story
Carlie Greer befriended Cliff Szukalski, who had served in WWII with Mike Strank. Being an avid war enthusiast, Carlie had heard of Mike's story before but met Cliff by chance after joining the Raider's association, a group typically comprised of blood relatives celebrating Marine Raider history and traditions. Mike Strank sent a letter to Cliff Szukalski on December 10th, 1943, while he was deployed abroad during WWII. Soon after, Mike Strank would be killed in action. Cliff gifted the original letter and envelope to Carlie in 2015, along with a personal letter addressed to her. The objects now reside in San Diego, California.
