Object Story
The participant's father, a second lieutenant in the Air Force, was declared MIA after his plane with the 450th Bomb Group was shot down over Croatia during WWII. His family received an MIA letter on January 7th, 1942. The participant's father's death had a lasting impact on his family, particularly his mother who would experience depressive episodes throughout the remainder of her life. The participant was two when his father passed away, leaving no personal memories of him.
