Mass-produced binoculars made of plastic, glass, metal, and leather in good, functional condition and made by Atlas. Purchased from Navy Exchange while on deployment in Yokosuka Japan as souvenir in 1957. Participant ID_00009, Object ID_00024.

Object Story

While many objects from the time have been lost and faded-- these like-new binoculars are reminiscent of the service and experience of the respondent. It was hard to bring things home, so the few things that came home were very meaningful. The binoculars were sent home to the family while the respondent went on another cruise. Another pair was purchased and is unused by the respondent.
