Abstract
Laura Gelfand has been Head of the Department of Art & Design since 2011. She received her PhD in Art History from Case Western Reserve University. Laura Gelfand’ s research centers on the art of the late medieval and early Renaissance in Northern Europe and she has published widely on a variety of topics including devotional portrait diptychs, the meaning and intent of noble commissions, and devotional interaction. She is co-editor of the series Art and Material Culture in Medieval and Renaissance Europe, published by Brill (Leiden), and she is currently editing the volume Our Dogs, Our Selves: Dogs in Medieval and Renaissance Art, Literature, and Culture, which is slated for publication with Brill in 2015.
