Abstract

Using a higher frequency band for wireless communications allows a higher data rate and bandwidth, However, loss is a function of frequency. The higher the frequency the higher the loss. An approach to over coming this obstacle is to build better antennas. An antenna that can reconfigure itself to account for factors such as weather, polarization, etc. can help mitigate the problems met at higher frequencies.

The project to solve the problems of legacy antennas was to build an aperture coupled patch antenna. This was interrupted halfway through the semester and the project had to be redesigned. These two Designs are designated Phase 1 and Phase 2 respectfully
