Abstract
Hiking and spending time in the wilderness is a common hobby. But as fun as it may be, much of it is spent out of cell phone reception. While it can be refreshing to have a break from our constant “connected-ness”, if someone is injured or lost without means of communication the results can be deadly.
The Portable Hiking Repeater was designed to mitigate these risks. A repeater is a simple device that receives and retransmits radio signals. By making one small and portable, hikers could easily bring one on their trip and leave it in a strategic location.
Then while they’re out in the wilderness they can use a radio, and the Portable Hiking Repeater will relay their message to someone who can help.
