Abstract
This book is a welcome addition to the growing academic interest in the intersection of Irish studies and performance studies. Researchers from a variety of fields find that their study of Irish culture is seen more clearly through the lens of performance theory. The goal of this book is to situate performance theory as critical to the field of Irish studies. It posits performance studies as uniquely positioned to interrogate Irish culture because of its multi-disciplinary theorising, and the volume makes a strong case to support that supposition by including a wide swath of interpretations of performance and performance theory.
