Abstract

This study is aimed at gaining a better understanding of the factors responsible for the distribution of elk on summer range, and an analysis of characteristics of preferred habitat. Such knowledge should prove of value in elk management, both in better managing elk herds themselves, and in coordinating their needs with those of other land uses.
