Abstract
The dire consequences of nematode invasion have been graphically depicted by Spiegler (1907), who says, the beet industry was at its heyday during the seventies. Nor satisfied with the land already in cultivation, the farmer plowed fertile lands along the border of the streams, wherein to grow beets, obtaining in some cases of 20 to 27 tons an acre.
