Abstract
Alfalfa-seed production was one of Utah's most important and lucrative forage crops 24 years ago. Statistical reports compiled by Professor C. J. Sorenson, Research Professor of Etomology at Utah State Agricultural College (30), show that in 1925 the 69,000 acres of alfalfa seed raised in Utah yielded an average of 6.37 bushels of seed per acre. Utah's alfalfa-seed yield in 1925 was 42 percent of the total alfalfa seed grown in the United States. This bumper crop brought an income of approximately $4,433,022 to Utah seed producers that year.
